Two Alarm Omaha Fire Investigation Continues

The Omaha Fire Department looks for the cause of the fire which displaced residents in 24 apartment units midday Sunday near Lake Forest Drive and Pratt Plaza, north of West Maple Road.

While approaching the scene, firefighters reported seeing smoke from 108th and West Maple.

The caller to 9-1-1 said that patio furniture was on fire on a back deck.

The exterior fire on the wooden decks of the second and third floor was quickly extinguished, but the fire had spread into the eaves of the roof and attic space, forcing firefighters from the roof area for safety concerns.

The Salvation Army and American Red Cross have been helping those displaced.

No injuries reported; one cat was rescued, and one cat unaccounted for;

It took over two hours to bring the fire under control;

Damage estimated at 500,000 dollars;
