Omaha woman charged after 45 animals found dead at home

(Omaha, NE) -- The Omaha World-Herald reports that an Omaha woman is charged on two counts of felony animal abuse after 45 animals are found dead inside her home.

Court documents show 47-year-old Jaime Kimbrough hoarded rabbits and other animals in her home and lied about having a veterinary license. She said having the license made it legal for her to snap the necks of rabbits she could no longer care for.

Investigators found 38 rabbits in her garage surrounded by solid waste, with two bird skeletons in the bedroom and molded dog waste in the basement. Five other rabbits were found at a second location owned by Kimbrough.

The Nebraska Humane Society was able to rescue two dogs and eight rabbits from Kimbrough's house. Her bail has been set at 20-thousand dollars.
