NSP: Woman arrested after leading trooper on chase with children in the car

(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha woman is behind bars after reportedly leading a Nebraska State Patrol trooper on a chase through the metro.

The Nebraska State Patrol says around 7:45 Sunday night, a trooper spotted a vehicle near 84th Street and I-80 that had previously fled from a traffic stop with the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say the vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu, refused to stop and fled westbound on I-80.

With the trooper in pursuit, the vehicle went northbound onto I-680, then westbound on West Center Road. The NSP says near 119th and Center, the trooper was able to successfully perform a tactical vehicle intervention and brought the vehicle to a stop. The driver, 32 year old Tiara Cook, was then taken into custody without incident. Troopers found four children in the vehicle during Cook's arrest. The children were placed with family. No injuries were reported.

Cook was arrested for felony flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, child abuse/neglect, no operator’s license and false reporting.
