Two people arrested after police find 20 pounds of meth

(Omaha, NE) -- Two people are behind bars after a large drug bust in South Omaha.

On Monday July 19th, 2021 detectives with the Omaha Police Department's South Gang Suppression Unit arrested Antonio Lopez-Tiznado and Karen Barba-Franco, who are suspected of trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine in the Omaha Metro area.

OPD says the investigation began during a traffic stop in the area of South 42nd Street and D Street. Investigators day during the course of the traffic stop, approximately 2 pounds of methamphetamine was found. Following the traffic stop, police say a court authorized search warrant was served at an apartment near 29th and Mason. During a search of the apartment, approximately 18 pounds of additional methamphetamine was located.
