Three More Deaths In Difficult Week On "275" In Northeast Nebraska

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a crash that claimed the lives of three people Friday afternoon in Neligh in Antelope County.

The collision was at the junction of Nebraska Highway 14 and U.S. Highway 275.

After a preliminary investigation, troopers believe a semi southbound on the state highway failed to stop at the controlled intersection with 275.

Investigators say the truck collided with a Dodge Journey that was westbound.

Both vehicles ended up in a residential area, striking an unoccupied, parked GMC Terrain.

The NSP says the driver of the Journey, 74-year old Geraldine Elsberry, and 72 year old passenger Norman Elsberry, both of Orchard, died at the scene. The semi driver, 31-year old Shane Ernest of Dalton, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nebraska State Patrol Carrier Enforcement Division is conducting a Post-Crash inspection on the truck tractor/semi-trailer.

On Thursday, four members of a Fremont family died in a crash on Highway 275 in Dodge County.
