Omaha Police issue warning about phone scam claiming to be OPD

(Omaha, NE) -- The Omaha Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam making the rounds recently.

OPD says the scammers are calling people and claiming to be from the department. A Facebook post made by the department on Tuesday states that the scammers claim to be with OPD and ask for personal or financial information, or both.

“The Omaha Police Department will NEVER call requesting donations, banking, or personal information over the phone,” reads the post.

Police remind residents not to share their Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license number, credit or debit card information, bank account numbers or any other personal information.
