(Tecumseh, NE) -- A prison staffer is recovering after being assaulted by an inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says the assault happened on Sunday. NDCS says the inmate approached the staff member and punched him several times in the head. They say additional staff members arrived and assisted the injured staffer in restraining the inmate.
The staff member received treatment at a local hospital for injuries to his head.
NDCS says results of the investigation will be provided to the county attorney for determination of criminal prosecution. The NDCS disciplinary process will be utilized with sanctions, such as loss of good time, applied according to the rules and regulations.
