NSP arrests teen following pursuit that reached speeds over 110 MPH

A Colorado teen is behind bars in Nebraska, accused of leading Nebraska State Patrol troopers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

The Nebraska State Patrol says just before 9:00 Wednesday morning, a trooper spotted a Toyota Avalon, which had previously been reported stolen in Iowa, westbound on Interstate 80 near North Platte. The NSP says the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the Toyota fled westbound, with the trooper in pursuit behind the suspect.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies were eventually able to deploy spike strips to slow the vehicle, which reached speeds over 110 miles per hour. The Toyota eventually came to a stop in the median of I-80 where the driver, an 18 year old from Colorado Springs, was arrested. The entire pursuit lasted approximately 15 minutes.

The teen is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, flight to avoid arrest and willful reckless driving.
