Omaha Marathon is a go, but with added COVID-19 precautions in place

The Omaha Marathon is a go for this year, but it will look different in order to put COVID-19 protocols in place.

In a Wednesday afternoon media release, organizers say their Large Event Application for the marathon has been approved by the Douglas County Health Department, officially giving the green light for the race to occur.

Tom Struzzieri, CEO of HITS Endurance said, “The Omaha Marathon is one of my favorite races, and we are thrilled to be organizing this race once again. We plan to bring a safe, exciting, and fun race to Omaha next month”.

Organizers say in order to ensure a safe race, they have designed rigorous COVID-19 protocols for implementation at the race. The protocols include temperature checks, face coverings at all times except when racing, physical distancing, staggered starts, remote viewing areas for spectators, and elimination of the in-person awards ceremonies. The full COVID-19 protocols can be found here.

The 45th annual Omaha Marathon is scheduled for September 20th in Lot C just outside of the TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
