Clean Up Today After A Tense Night At Omaha's 72nd And Dodge

Cleanup commences in the area of 72nd and Dodge Streets in Omaha, as what started as a peaceful protest of the Minneapolis in custody death of African American George Floyd turned violent Friday night when protesters moved from sidewalks onto the street.

Arrests have been made, and the windows of some buildings shattered, as officers guarded businesses.

Graffiti, some graphic, is visible.

Water bottles and other objects were seen being thrown, as police deployed smoke canisters.

One early sign of trouble Friday night was a "help an officer call" broadcast over police radios as a police cruiser was surrounded.

Tensions were also high early Saturday as protesters confronted Lincoln Police in the area of 25th and "O" Streets.

Des Moines was also the scene of a protest last night that led to violence, arrests and vandalism.
