Grand Island Mayor Wants Federal Assistance, Visit From U-S Ag Secretary

Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele is asking U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to visit his city following President Trump's executive order that requires meat processing plants to stay open.

Steele says he wants to explain to Secretary Perdue the problems the city has faced with government orders that have failed to protect the people of Grand Island.

There are 1,025 cases of COVID-19 in Hall County, including more than 200 tied to the JBS meat-packing plant.

Steele says workers at the plant need to be tested constantly, but they currently don't have the resources to do it.
