Police Identify Teen Driver Stabbed Before Crashing into Bellevue Home

A man who died behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle after crashing into a Bellevue home Wednesday morning has been identified by police.

Bellevue Police say 17 year old Elijah Walsh, of Omaha, died after being stabbed and crashing a stolen vehicle into a home near 48th and Bernadette.

Around 1:00 Wednesday morning, a resident in the 5000 block of Glasgow Avenue called police after confronting two men who were breaking into his car. The caller told police that he had stabbed one of the men during the confrontation before the pair fled the scene in a 2003 Infiniti. The man who was stabbed, Elijah Walsh, reportedly drove the getaway vehicle, which was later determined to have been stolen on Monday from Omaha.

Police say a short time later the Walsh crashed the stolen Infiniti into a home in the 7600 block of 48th Street. Walsh was found dead behind the wheel, the residents of the home did not report any injuries.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the area, but were not able to locate the second man that was in the vehicle.
