Douglas County Reports Seventh COVID-19 Related Death

The Douglas County Health Department announced ten new cases of COVID-19 and an additional coronavirus-related death on Tuesday.

The DCHD says the most recent death was that of a man in his 60's who had underlying health conditions. The man's death marks the seventh death related to COVID-19 in the county.

On Tuesday, the Health Department also confirmed 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Douglas County. These new cases involve five men and five women between 27 and 64 years of age. Among the new cases, six had contact with a known case, two were community-acquired and two remain under investigation. None of the new cases have been hospitalized.

With the addition of Tuesday's cases, Douglas County has now seen 255 cases of COVID-19 since the outbreak began. Nebraska has a total of 879 positive cases of COVID-19 and 19 deaths statewide.

Douglas County hospital inventories, as of Monday evening, indicated that 538 medical surge beds are still available. There are currently 38 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the county and of the 402 ventilators available to area hospitals, 101 are in use. Only 15 ventilators are currently being used by COVID-19 patients.
