Coronavirus Concerns Cancel Several UNL Study Abroad Programs

LINCOLN, Nebraska - The University of Nebraska - Lincoln made changes to their study abroad programs due to concerns of coronavirus.

6 News reports Chancellor Ronnie Green stated the study abroad program to mainland China, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam have been cancelled.

“All UNL-sponsored study abroad programs to these locations have been canceled for spring and summer,” Green said in the release. “In addition, we are monitoring a number of other locations in anticipation of possible restrictions."

The University has also been in contact with students who are currently studying in those countries.

Green says they are also taking steps on campus to protect the community. UNL is working to prevent the spread of the virus in the classroom and workplace. They are also keeping faculty, staff and students updated with the most recent information.
