Snow Leopard Cubs To Debut Soon At Henry Doorly Zoo And Aquarium

Omaha, Nebraska - There will soon be two baby Snow Leopard cubs on display at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. The male and female were born on May 22nd. The cubs will be introduced to the media on Tuesday.

The zoo hopes to have the cubs in their new home at the Asian Highlands exhibit soon. The cubs do not yet have names. Those will be announced at the Zoo's biennial fundraiser, Zoofari on September 13th.

The cubs' parents are 5 year old Rosemary who has lived at the Zoo since 2015. The father is 10 year old Pasha who has been at the Omaha Zoo since 2012. He is currently on display. The pair had a cub in 2017. The female, named Victoria was sent to the Binder Park Zoo near Battle Creek, Michigan earlier this month.

The cubs are a welcome addition to the Zoo and to the Snow Leopard species. The International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List reports they are a vulnerable species. There between 2,700 and 3,300 Snow Leopards that exists.
