Lincoln Teen Accused Of Punching Pregnant Woman

A Lincoln teenager is accused of randomly punching and pulling the hair of two women, including one who is pregnant.

Police were called to 48th and Adams around 9:00 Wednesday night to investigate an assault. Police say that according to the witnesses, 18 year old Josiah Meredith was running around in the area when he ran into a pole and then ran into traffic and hit the sides of two vehicles, causing approximately $1,000 in damage.

Police say according to witnesses Meredith then ran to a nearby business and punched and pulled the hair of a 22-year-old pregnant woman as she was leaving work. The woman's 39-year-old coworker came to her aid and police said she was also punched and had her hair pulled.

Both women suffered what police described as minor injuries including redness and minor scrapes. Police say officers found Meredith laying on the ground and was initially unresponsive. They said he later told the investigators that he had consumed alcohol and narcotics.

Meredith was cited and jailed for Third Degree Assault on a Pregnant Woman, Third Degree Assault, Criminal Mischief and Disturbing the Peace.
