Nebraska Utility Crews Heading To Help

Dozens of utility crew members from Nebraska are in Florida ahead of Hurricane Dorian to get situated and ready to hit the ground running.

Crews from Omaha Public Power District arrived in Orlando Monday. The crews want to be in place and are flexible to move if the storm changes direction.

Monday morning, two dozen crews from Lincoln Electric and Grand Island Utilities left Nebraska and they are also on their way to Florida. They are also hauling everything from power lines to other supplies to do above and below ground repairs.

Utility companies have an agreement to help other agencies in need of assistance. Crews from the south have headed north to Nebraska after tornadoes or strong wind storms that have caused large power outages.
