Grassley Wants Immigration Records Of Triple Homicide Suspect

A man charged with murdering a woman and her two kids in Des Moines is now in the custody of Customs and Immigration Enforcement.

Des Moines police say Marvin Escobar-Orellana gave a fake name before he was eventually charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

Investigators say Escobar Orellana was the one who called 911 after 29-year-old Rossibeth Flores-Rodriguez, her 11-year-old daughter Grecia and her five-year-old son Jose were shot in their home late Tuesday night.

ICE officials say Escobar-Orellana is from Guatemala and has twice been deported from the United States, once in 2010 and again in 2011.

Iowa U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley wants the immigration history of Escobar-Orellana. Grassley says laws in place to protect against such violence failed the young family.

He has written Homeland Security requesting all information the agency has on the man charged.
