Tuesday Storms Knock Out Power In Cass, Otoe Counties

Thunderstorms that moved through the area Tuesday morning caused power to be knocked out to thousands of OPPD customers.

Crews believe a lightning strike damaged equipment at a substation, leading to several circuit outages in Cass and Otoe Counties. Those outages began at 5:11 a.m. Crews restored power to two circuits impacted.

As of 7:30 a.m. they were still working to restore power to about 1,000 customers on two other circuits. The substation also fed a circuit that serves Syracuse, impacting 812 customers. Power was restored to those customers before 7 a.m.

There were a few scattered outages Douglas, Sarpy and Saunders counties.
