Teen Accused Of Leading Patrol On Chase In Stolen Van

The Nebraska State Patrol released more information on a chase that started near Gretna and ended at 76th and Charles Street in Omaha.

At 6:50 p.m. Monday, troopers were notified of a black Chrysler Town and Country van speeding on I-80.Moments later, a trooper spotted that vehicle heading eastbound at 105 mph.The trooper tried to stop the van but it sped up and took off.The trooper initiated a pursuit.

In the early stages, troopers were informed the vehicle was stolen.It traveled into Omaha reaching speeds of 115 mph before exiting I-80 onto I-680 northbound.The van exited I-680 and headed east on Pacific Street.The Omaha Police Department's Able-1 took over the pursuit from the air.

The vehicle stopped near 76th and Charles Street, troopers and officers were able to take the driver, a 17 year old male, into custody.The teen was taken to the Sarpy County Juvenile Detention Center for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of marijuana - less than one ounce, no driver's license and various traffic violations.

The entire pursuit lasted about 20 minutes.
