City Of Bellevue To Hold Public Forum On Flood Issues

Bellevue City officials will hold a public forum Friday to provide an update on the flood and answer questions about flood issues and recovery efforts.

The forum will take place 2:00 p.m. at the Bellevue Junior Sports Association, 1001 High School Drive. The city says Mayor Rusty Hike, City Administrator Jim Ristow will be among the city leaders who will address public questions.

The city says floodgates have been opened and water is being pumped from the flood zone. Water is slowly receding and water levels in the area were slowly receding and drainage will be a slow process. City officials believe most homes in the flood zone of Green Acres and Paradise Lake will be a total loss.

Floodwaters are contaminated with sewage and other hazardous materials so public access will be forbidden until the contamination can be mitigated..

The city is working with the Nebraska Humane Society to rescue pets and animals from the flooded area. Those rescues will happen when possible.
