Highway 275 Reopens Between Fremont And West Maple

There is good news for many commuters Tuesday morning as Highway 275 was reopened between Fremont and West Maple Road.

The closure of that stretch of highway cutoff much of the access to the communities of Fremont and Waterloo, both of which had primarily become islands in the middle of rising floodwaters,

Although 275 is back open, driving in the area will still take some navigating as you can get from 275 to Bennington and eventually Omaha by using Highway 36, but Highway 36 is down to just one lane and you need an escort to travel it. Drivers in the area say the wait for the escort can take 30 to 60 minutes, if not more.
