Six People Escape Burning Council Bluffs House

Six people escaped their burning house in Council Bluffs early Thursday morning. There was heavy smoke and flames coming from the home when firefighters arrived at 15th Street and 2nd Avenue around 3:30.

The family all made it out safely, including a young child. The family has been moved to a hotel. Several of their pets died in the fire.

The house was completely destroyed and the cause is not yet known. Due to the cold weather several firefighters reportedly slipped and fell on the ice, but no serious injuries were reported.
