Omaha Police say a woman who celebrated her 61st birthday on Thanksgiving was seriously injured when she was hit by a car near 72nd and Blondo early Saturday morning.
Investigators say a 2012 Chrysler 200 was northbound on 72nd Street as the woman was crossing 72nd from east to west, one block south of Blondo.
Witnesses stated Susan Suverkrubbe stepped out in front of the Chrysler in an area where there is no crosswalk. Police say alcohol use by Suverkrubbe was a contributing factor to the crash.
The driver of the Chrysler was not injured and so far no reports of any citations. Suverkrubbe suffered a broken left shoulder, two broken legs, ankle fracture, broken pelvis and a brain bleed. Her injuries are not considered life threatening at this time.
