Water Restrictions In Place For Parts Of Lancaster County

Residents in parts of rural Lancaster County are being advised to limit their water usage.

Lancaster County Rural Water District No. 1 is mandating customers to restrict their usage to inside the home use only due to issues with dirty water caused by high usage.

The indoor use only rule includes not watering lawns, filling up pools or using the water outside in any way, but the water is still safe to drink. The restriction does not apply to the towns of Roca, Bennet, and Panama.

The water district got a number of complaints regarding dirty water last weekend. The district says the issue was caused by a high volume of water flowing through older pipes, picking up residue along the way.

The mandate is likely to last at least a week.
