Overnight Fire Caused By Tossed Cigarette

Omaha firefighters made quick work of an overnight apartment fire.  They were called to 4220 147th Plaza around 2:30 Friday morning.  Firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from a third story balcony.

The fire was contained to the attic space where crews were able to contain and extinguish it.  No one was hurt.  Investigators determined it was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.

The Red Cross was called to assist two adult occupants displaced from the blaze.
