Lincoln Police Officer Injured In Assault

A Lincoln Police officer is recovering after being assaulted by a man Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the officer was responding to a disturbance call near 31st and P just after 12:00. While interviewing people at the scene, a man, without warning, hit the officer in the head with a ceramic mug.

After a brief struggle, 41 year old JT Jennings was taken into custody for Second Degree Assault of a Police Officer. The officer received multiple stitches for lacerations on his head.

It was determined the disturbance call was made after Jennings showed up at his mother's house and attempted to force his way into the residence.
