Alcohol Use Suspected In Early Morning Crash

An Omaha woman is recovering after an early morning crash on Wednesday.

Omaha Police say just before 1:00 crews responded to a crash near 177th and West Maple. Authorities say 28 year old Abbie Lueders was travelling eastbound in a Kia Soul on Maple at a high rate of speed when she hit the rear-ended a Nissan Altima. The force of the impact sent the Altima across the westbound lanes and into an embankment. The Kia rolled on its side, slid off the roadway and overturned into another embankment.

Lueders was transported to Nebraska Medicine for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Altima, 29 year old Jordan Shepler, complained of some pain but refused treatment.

Police say alcohol use by Lueders is a factor in the crash. The collision remains under investigation.
