In an effort to fill vacancies at the Nebraska State Penitentiary and Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, Director Scott Frakes has announced that the $2500 hiring bonus, which was scheduled to end on November 17th, will continue through January 2, 2018.
The hiring bonus was announced on October 2nd as a recruiting strategy to decrease vacancies at both facilities.
New employees hired will receive the $2500 bonus, paid out quarterly over their first year of service. During the last 45 days, prison officials say 50 new team members have been hired and will receive the bonus.
“The hiring bonus has been well received,” Frakes says. “As we give more future team members the opportunity to take advantage of this benefit, we hope to continue to decrease the vacancies and reduce the need for mandatory overtime at NSP and TSCI.”
