State Patrol Makes Large Marijuana Bust On I-80

The Nebraska State Patrol made a large drug bust during a traffic stop near Cozad last week.

Authorities say just after 11:00 PM on November 8th troopers pulled over a pickup truck, driven by 60 year old Curtis Dixon of California, for a headlight violation. 

During the stop, troopers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the truck, which prompted a search of the vehicle. Upon inspection, 48 pounds of marijuana were discovered under a sheet of plywood in the bed of the truck. Troopers also found over an once of marijuana and drug paraphernalia behind the driver's seat. 

Dixon was arrested on a number of charges including Possession of More than One Pound of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Drug Tax Stamp, and a violation for Improper Vehicle Lighting.
