Suspect Identified In Sarpy County Home Invasion And Sexual Assault

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Department have released the name and description of a man who they say is the suspect in a Wednesday night home invasion robbery and sexual assault.

Sheriff Jeff Davis identified the suspect as 52 year old Stephen R. Prior. Prior is a white man, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Authorities say around 11:30 Wednesday night, Prior was armed with a gun when he entered a woman's home near 156th and Giles. While in the home, Prior raped the woman and robbed her.

Friday morning, the Nebraska State Patrol, Papillion Police, La Vista Police, Bellevue Police and Sarpy County Sheriff’s deputies teamed-up to conduct a search after a report of an armed party in the area. Law enforcement searched the area between 144th and 156th and Chandler to Giles.

Sheriff Davis says a deputy spotted Prior around 4:00 a.m. and he took off running when the deputy tried to talk to him.

Authorities say all of Prior's recent victims have been in the medical field, such as nurses or medical students. They are warning people in that field to be especially careful.

Prior has a criminal history, serving eight years for Forgery, Burglary, and Robbery. He also has a current protection order out of Douglas County.

Prior faces a number of charges including First Degree Sexual Assault, Burglary, Robbery, Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Felony and First Degree False Imprisonment.
