Bond Set For Driver Accused Of Causing Two Crashes

Bond was set Wednesday at $250,000 for a man involved in a pair of traffic accidents last week that injured five people,  including a 4-year-old boy who was in his care.

Marquel Carter is charged with Intentional Child Abuse and Failure to Stop to Render Aid in connection with the August 18 incidents.

Omaha Police say the first accident happened at 40th and Hamilton and that Carter left the scene after hitting another vehicle.  Two people in that car suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses called police after Carter's damaged vehicle was spotted near Military and Decatur where it struck an SUV after traveling at about 80 miles per hour.  Police say the four year old child was unrestrained in the back seat and suffered a critical head injury.

Carter is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 25th.
