Omaha's Zoo Ready For Hot Days

As temperatures climb, some days feeling over 100 degrees this week, Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo is offering a number of ways to keep visitors cool.

Now through July 23rd the zoo will open early at 8:00 AM, so guests can beat the midday heat.

Numerous exhibits and buildings offer air conditioning including the Scott Aquarium, Desert Dome and the new Baby Care Center at the Children's Adventure Trails.

Guests can find a shaded seating area just outside of the Baby Care Station as well. Several areas throughout the zoo offer a chance to get cooled off in water exhibits including the Alaskan Adventure splash ground and the waterfall with 250 foot stream at the Children's Adventure Trails.

Nine misters have been placed across the zoo for those who would like a quick cool off.

To help keep guests hydrated on hot days, cold water will be available for visitors at various locations throughout the zoo and parking lot. There are also water bottle filling stations near the restrooms in the Wild Kingdom Pavilion, African Lodge, and Baby Care Station.

For those who forgot the sunblock, courtesy sunscreen dispensers are available at the Baby Care Station, Alaskan Adventure, Red Barn Park, Skyfari and the Omaha Train Depot.
