Man Pulled From ConAgra Lake Identified

The man who was recovered from ConAgra Lake at Heartland of America Park Thursday morning is identified as 31 year old Hector Castaneda-Vasquez.

Omaha fire crews were called to the lake Wednesday evening around 10:15 after getting a report that there was a man in the water was calling for help.  Fire crews had to make their way to the water but cutting through fences and then deployed dive teams in an effort to find the man.  They also used boats equipped with sonar in the search which was difficult due to the number of underwater pipes feeding the fountain.   After three hours the search was called off until Thursday morning.

Castaneda-Vasquez was found underwater about 30 feet from shore at 10 a.m. on Thursday.  Poles were used to retrieve his body.  There are signs posted that swimming is not allowed in that area.
