Council Bluffs police are investigating a deadly accident that claimed the life of a 67 year old man. At 11:38 p.m. Friday, a van hit a power pole near 23rd Avenue and South 35th Street. The driver and sole occupant of the van is identified as William Snyder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation indicates the 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager was westbound on 23rd Avenue when Snyder lost control and hit a power pole, sheering it off. Power was knocked out to several businesses. Mid-American Energy was called in to make the necessary repairs.
That area had to be shut down and traffic diverted.
