A police standoff that lasted for nine hours on Friday came to a peaceful end around 2:30 p.m.
Officer Kevin Wiese tells Newsradio 1110 KFAB a man accused of stabbing a woman during a domestic disturbance near 40th and Himebaugh has now been taken to the hospital for observation.
The victim was covered in blood when she ran to a neighbor near with four children around 5:15 a.m. She had been cut her in the neck and wrist. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.
Weise says the suspect was armed with a knife and was possibly suicidal. He says police negotiators and a family member were in contact with the man trying to get him to surrender.
He did so without incident and was put into the back of an ambulance.
