Douglas County Sheriff's investigators say a motorcyclist who was struck and killed by a pickup near 240th and Pacific early Friday morning was an off-duty Omaha Firefighter.

37-year-old Scott Petersen was killed when a southbound pickup driven by Johathan Mumm of Fremont crossed the center line and slammed into the motorcycle.

Petersen died at the scene.

Investigators say Mumm was not hurt, but alcohol is suspected and charges are pending.

Omaha Fire officials say Petersen had been with the department for 7 years.  Before that he was a member of the Elkhorn Fire department.  He was a Hazardous Materials Technician and a member of the Nebraska Task Force I Urban Search and Rescue Team serving as a rescue specialist.

He is survived by his wife and children.
