Omaha Police and Fire Department rescue crews rushed to Ames Avenue, between 31st and 36th Thursday afternoon after reports of gunfire.  This happened just after 3:30 pm.  

Omaha police tell NewsRadio 1110 KFAB three people were hit by gunfire. One of the victims was hit multiple times and died.  Two of the victims were put into private vehicles.  One of the vehicles stopped at a nearby fire station and the other flagged down an approaching ambulance to get help for the two injured. 

This is near North High School but students had been released about 45 minutes before the shootings.  The school was not in lock-down.  

There are reports of two groups of people gathered at 36th and Ames just before the shots were fired.  

Names of the victims have not been released.
