UNO Plays With The Big Boys: Nabs $10.1M Grant

The University of Nebraska at Omaha has won a $10.1 million grant to establish a center for biomechanics research.

The university says the Center for Research in Human Movement Variability will build on the work of the university researchers in developing new treatments for people recovering from movement-affecting disorders.

Researchers will study how bodies control and adjust movement and how movement variability can be linked to a number of disorders, including autism, peripheral arterial disease and stroke.

Officials say the National Institutes for Health award is the largest research grant ever for the university. The money will be distributed over five years, with two opportunities to renew for matching funds.
