Crews from the Omaha Public Power District spent Thursday morning repairing damage from a car hitting a transformer and switch at 72nd and Cass Streets about 6am.

That caused a fire and outage affecting more than 12-hundred customers, according to OPPD's Jodi Baker.

Most of the power was restored by 7:15am, but traffic lights on 72nd Street at Cass and Capital remain down while crews work on a pair of transformers.

OPPD estimates the fix will take several hours.
