The incident happened in front of St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center Wednesday afternoon when witnesses noticed smoke coming from a truck that had just pulled in.
A man and woman approached and saw fire on the passenger side. They managed to open the driver's door and pull out the unconscious man. They moved him onto nearby grass and pulled off some clothing.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue Captain Ron Trouba called the pair's help "nothing short of heroic.''
Firefighters later put out the fire. The man was taken to the hospital's burn unit. His condition has not been released.
