Injured Officer Remains Stable

An Omaha police officer was injured Thursday after an SUV rear-ended his patrol car.

The Omaha Police Department says Officer Lou Tomsu suffered broken ribs following the afternoon crash near 50th and L Street.  He also received head and back injuries.

Police say Tomsu was investigating an accident when the SUV plowed into the rear of his cruiser.  He is in serious but stable condition at Alegent Creighton University Medical Center.

The driver of the SUV, 39-year-old Michele Eshelman, was not injured.
