The rain began falling early Friday evening and kept falling for several hours. 3-5 inches fell across Omaha and more than 5 was reported in La Vista. The heavy downpours caused streets to flood and stranded many drivers.
One of the area impacted was 96th Street between L and Q where several cars got caught in the high water.
The storm forced the Virgina-Ole Miss College World Series game to be suspended. It will resume at 2:00 Saturday afternoon followed by the Texas-Vanderbilt elimination game at 7:00
OPPD officials say during last night's storm that packed 60-70 miles per hour winds, around 16,000 customers were left without power.
As of 7:00 Saturday morning the number had been cut to about 98-hundred. OPPD officials say crews are working to restore power as quickly as safely possible.
