Convicted killer Justin Lenz was sentenced Wednesday morning to 60 to 80 years in prison.
Lenz pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the May 2012 death of Melanie Koontz. Lenz admitted strangling Koontz with his hands and then a belt.
Her body was found in Cole Creek near 78th and Blondo. After the sentence was handed down, Melanie's mother Michelle Koontz said " It gives us peace, we can rest and think about the good times instead of the way she died."
Those good times included camping and an annual family vacation in June. The Koontz's also have two sons.
