An Omaha man is facing several charges after a child abudction report turned into a police pursuit Thursday night.
A woman called 911 around 9:00 p.m. to report someone in a van was trying to entice children into the vehicle near 38th and Parker. While enroute, the father of of the 10 and 6 year olds said a man tried to lure his kids into the van and chased them on foot when that proved unsuccesful.
The children were able to safely get into their house. Officer saw the suspect turn the van lights off and a female passenger appeared to be fleeing from an open door. The van fled and collided with a parked vehicle.
The Omaha Police helicopter picked up the pursuit as the vehicle fled into Council Bluffs and back into Omaha on I-480.
Eventually, the van crashed into two vehicles at 14th and Dodge. The suspect got out and tried to get into one of those vehicles, which was occupied by a woman and a small child.
The suspect's attempted was thwarted by officers who arrested him. The van was determined to be stolen from Bellevue.
23 year old Sean Collins has been arrested for attempted abduction, attempted robbery, flight to avoid arrest, theft by receiving and a felony and two misdemeanor warrants.
