The man shot by police during a foot chase last month was formally charged Wednesday following his release from the hospital.
Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine has charged 30 year Deandre Crittenden with first-degree attempted assault on an officer, use of a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
On November 21st officers on patrol in the area of North 44th and Pratt heard gunshots and stopped a vehicle leaving the area at 44th and Ruggles.
Police say when the SUV stopped, the Crittenden got out and ran. Police say during the pursuit officers ordered Crittenden to drop the gun. But he then picked it up and pointed it at police.
That's when Officer Paul Hasiak opened fire. Officers Hasiak and Eric Meads were placed on administrative leave. Kleine's officedetermined the shooting was justified and both officers were returned to duty.
Crittenden is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon.
