Bond has been denied for Mikael Loyd, who police accused of killing his 19-year-old girlfriend Melissa Rodreguez and leaving her body in an open grave.  Loyd made his initial court appearance Tuesday morning.

Prosecutors told the judge this morning that Loyd murdered Rodreguez because she reminded him of his mother who Loyd blames for killing his father several years ago.

According to the arrest affidavit, Loyd was accused of dragging her body to the open grave at Graceland Park Cemetery near 42nd and "L" on August 15th.

A judge denied bond for Loyd. He is expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on September 10.
