One person is dead after a car hits a building Friday night.  Omaha Police report the victim was found inside the building at 4201 Leavenworth.  At the time of the collision the building was believed to be unoccupied and the body was located this morning.  Omaha Fire Department officials determined the structure was unsafe for officers to retrieve the victim.   

The victim has not been identified.   

Police say an out of control 1997 Buick Park Avenue was northbound on 42nd Street jumped a curb and struck a fire hydrant and then the "It's New To You" thrift store.  The car came to rest in the street.  The driver was not located.  Police say speed was a factor.

remains closed until the investigation is complete.  Employees from the Omaha Fire Department, Public Works, M-U-D and OPPD were at the location Saturday morning to assist accident investigators.   

The outside wall of the building is now a pile of rubble.
