Black bullheads are being stocked in four eastern Nebraska lakes ahead of the Labor Day weekend.

The Valentine State Fish Hatchery is stocking the 9- to 10-inch bullheads. The creatures will be put in state recreation areas in Louisville, Fremont and Two Rivers.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says the black bullheads are great for introducing children and beginning anglers to fishing. They don't require expensive equipment to catch.

The daily bag limit on the newly stocked lakes is five.
