Organizers behind the Great Platte River Road Archway in Kearney say only three paid employees remain on staff because of costs.

The foundation that runs the attraction says it has about one month of operating funds. Its attendance revenue will also likely drop with the approaching winter.

The Kearney Hub reports there are about 20 volunteers working for the archway, which spans a section of Interstate 80.

The group plans to request $400,000 from county and city officials after the group decides on long-term funding and marketing for the attraction.

A bankruptcy judge recently approved a debt-restructuring plan for the archway, which has struggled financially for years.
